When a critical booster set at Newbury Racecourse reached the end of its operational life, the team at Pump Technology stepped in to deliver a replacement with minimal disruption and a tight deadline.

During a routine scheduled maintenance visit, our engineers identified that the existing booster set had deteriorated significantly. One of the two pumps had already failed, leaving the system operating on a single pump, while the installation itself was becoming increasingly unreliable due to its age.

Rather than risk an unexpected breakdown, a decision was made to replace the complete booster set. This provided the most reliable and cost-effective long-term solution, ensuring the racecourse would continue to benefit from a dependable water supply for years to come.

With major events fast approaching—including performances by The Gipsy Kings on Friday and Ronan Keating on Saturday—the installation had to be completed within a very narrow window.

Our team arrived on site at 5:00am on Monday, with four experienced engineers working throughout the day to remove the old equipment, install the new booster set, commission the system and carry out final testing.

By 4:00pm, the new system was fully operational and ready well ahead of the busy weekend schedule.

Careful planning, teamwork and efficient project management ensured the installation was completed safely, on time and without impacting the venue’s preparations for its high-profile events.

At Pump Technology, we understand that many of our customers simply cannot afford downtime. Whether supporting racecourses, commercial buildings, public venues or industrial facilities, our experienced engineers work quickly and professionally to deliver reliable pumping solutions when they matter most.
